Cwmbran Celts Ladies 1 - Dinas Powys Ladies FC 2

DINAS Powys Ladies FC had a fine start to the season with three points from a tough away game at Cwmbran Celts Ladies.

The 'Villagers' took an early lead from a Taylor Page corner where Leanne Pattermore rifled home from five yards reacting fastest. Laura Murray then doubled the lead as she followed up her shot to make it 2 - 0.

The first half saw Dinas in control and the home side rarely troubled Lea Phillips in goal as Alex Allen, Vicki Elison, Leanne Pattermore and Steaphanie Garner-Joel sniffed out any danger.

The second half completely changed as the home side were awarded a some what dubious penalty when the ball had gone safely behind.

The Cwmbran striker coolly slotted home.

For the final 20 minutes Dinas were put under a lot of pressure as Cwmbran threw everything at the 'Villagers'. Last season they would have grumbled but not this season as they defended for each other.

Kelly Tuck, Jo Jones and Rachel Beare got through loads of work and were key to gaining three points. Laura Lewis ran the home side time and time again to the relief of the Dinas defenders.

Man-of-the-match was Kelly Tuck with a solid all round performance.
