FC Pumas B 0 - Penarth Town AFC 2nds 4

PENARTH Town AFC 2nds played away in Barry last weekend against FC Pumas B in the Vale second division.

Penarth were on a good winning run and with Pumas low down in the league they were hoping to extend it.

Both teams took a while to settle and the first 20 minutes was fairly scrappy.

Morgan Hayman up front for Penarth Town started to get in behind the Pumas defence but was struggling to overcome their offside trap.

He did however eventually manage to do this and made a great run down the right flank. He crossed the ball in to find Alex Donovan waiting to knock it in for the opening goal.

Penarth's midfield with Simon Fairhurst and Nathan Bousie now started to take control and brought Scott Willitts and Lewis Slack into the game on the flanks.

It was from this strong play that the ball found its way to Donovan who now turned provider after a wide run to put Hayman in for Penarth's second.

So into the break and Penarth were 2 - 0 up.

In the second period Pumas found a little form and called Tom Hopwood in the Penarth goal into several very good saves.

Penarth Town's back four of Macauley Winton, Ryan Bright, Antonio Scarico and Danny Donovan now tightened up and soon Penarth were back on top.

Andy Germon replaced a tiring Winton and added even more stability to Town's defence.

This control allowed Penarth to push forward again and not long after a superb through ball from Slack put Alex Donovan in again who finished neatly for his second and Penarth's third.

Slack himself came close with a long range effort that rebounded back off the Pumas crossbar.

As the game drew to a close, Penarth were completely dominant, introducing Dave Crum and Mike Patterson to freshen things up.

Soon after, good work from Fairhurst set-up Donovan again who scored low down at the near post to complete his hat-trick.

So a quality performance all round and a well deserved win for Penarth Town AFC 4 - 0.

Their next game will away again to Barry Saints who sit one place above Penarth in the league, so a very important game for Penarth Town's 2nds.

The 1sts play Dinas Powys at home. Both games kick-off at 2pm on Saturday, December 3.

Penarth Town would very much like to raise some new junior teams for players under the age of 10.
