PENARTH Bowling Club’s successful indoor season continued last week with two victories in two very well contested matches.

On Sunday, November 27, a keen battle was anticipated with the visit of the Welsh Short Greens side and, in the event, the expectations were more than justified with a fighting performance from the visitors which produced two winning rinks.

After an excellent game of bowls Penarth’s win was due in the main to the two winning rinks with Phil Davies, Tony Gent, Diana Willcocks and Bob Lewis victorious by 29 - 16 and Sandra Roberts, Chris Davies, Russell Daniel and Guy Thomas with a 26 - 7 success.

All in all, the visitors put up a very good showing in this thoroughly enjoyable game.

Last Saturday saw Penarth welcome Firbank for a three rink men's match where, once again the visitors performed with great credit on the unfamiliar rink at Rectory Road.

Despite a close win on one rink and a narrow defeat on another, Firbank could not quite match the Penarth men on the third rink where Phil Davidge, the combined talents of the Thomas brothers (Guy and Tony), and the consistency of 'Whispering' Dave Clements proved just a little too much to overcome in a 12 - 25 reversal.
