FORMER Liverpool FC and three-time European Champions League winner Jamie Carragher was the star attraction in a sports dinner held at the Vale Sports Arena on December 8.

Carragher who has played for Liverpool FC a staggering 737 times and also holds the record for most European appearances for the club also met some junior players of PG10 Coaching and Old Penarthians RFC and provided words of inspiration and posed for photos with all the guests.

Guests to the evening also enjoyed a Q&A, speeches, a meet and greet, auctions and more in an action packed evening.

The evening also welcomed Wales and Everton FC legend Neville Southall who works a lot with PG10.

Peter Griffiths, director of PG10, said: "We are thrilled to help bring some of the biggest names in sport to the area, which we hope will inspire local people and children and enable them to take part in more sport related activities."

Catherine Sharp of Vale Sports Arena added: "We are privileged to be working with such big sporting stars and also amazing charities that benefit so many worthwhile causes."

The next events for 2017 are Ricky Hatton on February 3; Ian Rush and John Barnes on February 8 and Glenn Hoddle on March 24.
