SULLY Sports football club's under-12s were delighted to receive a bumper donation from Persimmon Homes East Wales to help them buy new kit.

The club’s under-12s Whites team received £1,000 from the leading housebuilder for new shirts and to help pay to use training facilities.

Andrew Nourish, the under-12s coach, said: “We are extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes for this generous donation.

“We are a mixed kids football team playing in the Vale of Glamorgan local league.

“We take subs but running a sports team is very expensive these days and we need all the help we can get. It’s fantastic that large companies like Persimmon are willing to help clubs like ours.”

The donation comes as part of Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions initiative.

The scheme sees the housebuilder donate up to £2,000 to charities and community groups within south east Wales each month.

This happens across all of Persimmon’s 28 regions and their head office in York.

Since the scheme launched in March 2015, more than £1 million has been donated to good causes nationally.

Victoria Williams, sales director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said: “We are proud to be able to hand over this money to Sully Sports.

“Sully Sports is a great club with teams at every level from under-8s upwards. The volunteers do a terrific job keeping the club running and we’re delighted to be able to help in this way.”

“Community Champions has been a hugely successful initiative which has allowed us to support more than 20 good causes already.
