PENARTH Bowling Club’s only fixture last week was a purely local affair when the opposition was provided by a combined Penarth Windsor/Belle Vue side.
A thoroughly enjoyable game saw some keen bowling from the visitors.
Dave Hales, Peter Morrish, Steve Ellard and skip Steve Close making a rare but welcome visit to his old 'stamping ground', put up a really good show with the score not really reflecting the quality of their bowling.
Without a doubt, the star performers for the visitors were the Reg Dyer rink where Reg, with the able assistance of Mike Matthews, Nick Walker and Martin Dorrell gained a creditable 12 - 12 tie.
The overall result was a convincing win for Penarth with Berwyn Lansley, Tony Thomas, Derrick Musk and Nick Thomas (32-8) and Trevor Jenkins, Mike England, Bob Willmott and Dave Clements (28-10) never seriously threatened.
This weekend on Saturday, January 21, the team are looking forward to a visit from the Murch Bowling Club for a mixed match.
