Dinas Powys Youth 1

Penarth Town Youth 3

PENARTH Town's youth squad took on local rivals Dinas Powys away last weekend in the Cardiff and District Southern League.

Dinas started the stronger and with definite intent.

Penarth's back four of Danny Donovan, Lian Carter, Lewis Pyke and Sab Khostval had to get into gear from the first whistle. This they did and they weathered the storm for the first 15 minutes or so.

Then as the ball was cleared again it fell to Mcauley Winton who lifted it forward again into the path of Sam Bohlan. He took it on, beat a man and then lifted it high over the Dinas 'keepers head from some 20 yards and into the top right corner.

Dinas came back strong again and drew a number of fine saves from the Town 'keeper Jordan Birchall.

Penarth started to settle a little with Ray Vandyck and Jack Swaine taking control of the central midfield. This allowed them to bring Will Adasenya and Adam Hearne into the game on the flanks.

One such run down the right from Adasenya drew a free kick just inside the right touch line. Winton struck a lovely ball in deep to the far post and after a bit of a scramble Pyke managed to stab it in for Town's second.

No further goals were scored in the first half.

In the second half Dinas came out strong again but the Penarth defence was equal to the threat.

Then another run down the Town's flank, this time by Hearne on the left, drew another free kick in a dangerous area.

Winton hit another fierce shot at the goal which the Dinas 'keeper could only parry onto the post with Pyke waiting to tap it in.

Dinas threw everything at the visitors and did get one back for their trouble but Penarth hung on.

They brought on Ethan Fettah and Nathan Frost to freshen things up and that was enough to secure all three points for the visitors.

Penarth Town's 2nds were also in action over the weekend playing BV at home in the Vale Second Division. They recorded a 10 - 1 victory with hat-tricks for Morgan Hayman and Alex Donovan and additional goals for Scott Willitts and Mcauley Winton.
