Dinas Powys Wolves 7

Maesteg Park 0

DINAS Powys Wolves put in a brilliant display of attacking football in the first round of the South Wales Under-14s Cup against Maesteg Park.

The referee let the game go ahead when a lot of matches fell foul to the overnight frost.

The young lads of Dinas Powys Wolves have been training hard on attacking options and defending as a unit and on Saturday it paid off with seven goals and a clean sheet.

Kyle booker opened the scoring before bayley Harewood made it 2-0.

Rian Thomas read his lines well and a move right off the training pitch saw him add goal number three.

At the break the Wolves looked in control but were reminded that it's vital not to switch off as the visitors were more than capable of scoring.

The home side came out of the blocks with an intensity that is getting a familiar sight and further goals from Booker and Harewood put the game to bed.

Frost and Lewis marshalled the back four whilst Quest and Williams stopped any threat out wide showing strength and pace.

In the middle, Joe Doughty and Zac Fifield won the ball and played it simple as their work rate was hard to match.

The hard working Thomas was replaced with Saunders who kept the visitors deep and Hewitson's movement was proving very difficult to handle.

Jacob Pereira replaced the impressive Doughty which allowed Fifield the opportunity to push on and he was rewarded with a fine goal. Booker added the seventh to complete his hat-trick.

Dylan Morris was called on late in the game and stood strong to earn his clean sheet.

A large crowd turned out to cheer on the side. Wolves certainly were a credit to the Vale league with a performance on and off the pitch.

Thank you to all who ensured the game was playable and Maesteg who made it an enjoyable match for the neutral.
