PENARTH Bowling Club’s successful indoor season has gone from strength to strength over the past fortnight with two more emphatic victories.

On January 25, the Rectory Road men welcomed Rhiwbina to the indoor stadium for a return game, following November’s match at Rhiwbina which ended in Penarth’s only reversal of the season to date.

This time, there was no danger of defeat as Penarth swept imperiously to an emphatic win to gain “sweet revenge”.

The top rink comprised John Bowen, Phil Davidge, Mike England and skip, Dave Dalby (31-11) with Trevor Jenkins, Russell Daniel, Derrick Musk and Guy Thomas also well to the fore (23-4).

Strong performances from Tony Thomas, Berwyn Lansley, captain Alan Stockham and Dave Clements (19-5) and Peter Needham, Tony Gent, Phil Davies and Nick Thomas (22-14) ensured that Penarth were well and truly “out of sight” by the close.

Last Wednesday, February 1, saw a welcome visit from Llantwit Major and a chance to renew old friendships once again.

Sadly, the bonhomie of the clubhouse did not extend to the green where, yet again, Penarth were taking no prisoners and won handsomely on all four rinks.

Leading the way were Phil Davidge, Russell Daniel, Phil Davies and Bob Lewis with a virtuoso 35 - 5 win, closely followed by Berwyn Lansley, Don Butler, Mike England and Rob Grant (22-6).

With fine wins for John Bowen, Derrick Musk, Bob Hill and Dave Clements (25-16) and Peter Needham, John Whitfield, Colin Grant and Dave Dalby (26-14) the season’s victorious band wagon rolls on.
