Penarth Town 2

Tynewydd FC 2

TYNEWYDD FC made the short trip to Penarth to play the reverse fixture from the opening day of the season, a fixture they won 3 - 2 in what now seems like a long time ago after what has been a very frustrating season, result wise.

Playing on a pitch that was more akin to a boggy mountain range, neither side managed to play much football and as such there was little quality on show.

Penarth nabbed an early goal after a miss-cleared corner was turned in from close range. Penarth probably should have been in front at the break but they failed to capitalise on their chances and it was Tynewydd who equalised before half-time in similar fashion to the opener, as Dafydd Gibbs netted from all of a yard out.

Early into the second half and Penarth had a chance to regain the lead when their 'Harry Kane' lookalike striker cleverly managed to win a penalty, a penalty he would then convert to make it 2 - 1.

Around 15 minutes after that Tynewydd won their own penalty after the Penarth centre half handled in the box. Julian Brana slotted home to make it 2 - 2.

Tynewydd had a golden opportunity to grab all three points when Craig Rattenbury, fresh from his brace of goals on his debut the week previous, saw his bobbled shot tipped over the bar.

In all fairness a draw was probably a fair result, especially on a pitch that atrocious.

Tynewydd FC would like to thank AutoSpray for their continued support of the team.
