Dinas Powys Ladies FC 1

Cwmbran ladies FC 1

IN THIS top-of-the-table clash honours were shared. Both teams failed to test the goalkeepers enough in 90 minutes and it certainly wasn't an entertaining match for the spectators.

Dinas struggled to get out of the blocks throughout the match with a number of girls performing well below their usual standards. Cwmbran looked a more organised team then the side that was blown away in the semi-final a few weeks ago.

Dinas were handed a few blows losing Samantha Saunders to what turned out to be a broken leg on 20 minutes and Laura Lewis with an ankle injury.

Nevertheless the Dinas 'Villagers' kept scrapping for possession.

Cwmbran took the lead in the second half when a shot from just instead the box somehow went through Naiomi Wilsons hands.

Dinas have a proud unbeaten record this season and always look dangerous at set pieces. Rachel Beare eventually made one count as her powerful header drew the teams level.

This was a well gained point for the home side and showed with a below par performance they can still get results.

Lady of the match Rachel Beare.

The club wish Samantha Saunders a speedy recovery from a nasty injury.
