THIRTEEN gymnasts from YMCA Barry Gymnastics Club were delighted when they were all successful in passing their gymnastics gradings.

They had to demonstrate a number of set skills within routines on vault, bars, beam, floor and range and conditioning, and then score more than a certain mark to pass.

Whilst the grades are about recognising personal achievement, awards were also presented to gymnasts from the South Central area who scored the highest on each of the pieces and overall.

The first grade was grade six and gymnasts have to be a minimum of eight-years-old to try this grade.

In the eight-years category YMCA Barry were well represented with Aliyah Weston, Casey Moores, Emmy Saddler, Melissa Cookson, Millie Williams, Rosie Bishop and Ruby Clark all successfully participating.

Casey, Emmy, Millie and Rosie all scored a distinction with Aliyah, Melissa and Ruby earning well deserved commendations.

Mille was awarded a gold medal for placing joint first on vault and a sixth place ribbon for her overall total. Casey also claimed a gold medal for her bar routine whilst Rosie gained a bronze on bars.

Neave Cummins, Roxy Frost, Seren Doel and Stacie White all participated in the out of age grade six category where they had similar success to their younger club mates.

Roxy, Seren and Stacie all achieved commendations whilst Neave earned a well deserved pass.

All four gymnasts also climbed onto the podium. Stacie had a particularly successful day becoming the overall South Central champion. She also gained gold medals for her beam and bars, a silver medal on floor and a bronze medal on range and conditioning.

Roxie gained a silver medal for her overall total as well as a silver for her beam routine and a bronze for bars.

Neave climbed to the top of the podium when she gained gold for her floor routine and also received silver medals for her vault and bars, and a fifth place ribbon for her total score.

Team mate Seren was delighted when she awarded a bronze medal for her total score.

Hana Davies competed in the grade five event where she demonstrated five fantastic performances. She achieved a distinction and became the South Central Grade Five champion.

She also gained gold medals for her beam and floor, and silver medals for her bar, vault and range and conditioning routine. Her excellent performances resulted in her selection to represent the South Central area at the Welsh Grades Finals.

Yazmin Michael was the sole representative from Barry in the grade four event. She was delighted to pass her grading and receive a sixth place ribbon for her overall score.

Congratulations to all of the gymnasts who worked very hard in the build up to the gradings.
