PENARTH's cricketers were well beaten in their latests South Wales Premier Cricket League Premier Division One match against Cardiff on Saturday.

The bears won the toss and chose to field first at Forest Farm.

Cardiff reached a highly impressive 319-5 from their allocated 50 overs with Alex Milton smashing 117, Kiran Carlson 88 and Connor Brown 62.

Scott Matthews led the way for the Penarth bowlers with 3-68 with Ali Bukkhari (1-55) and Nathan Piddock (1-52) also chipping in.

In reply, Penarth were bowled out for 166 in the 46th over.

Tom Sidford top scored for the bears with 71 as Luke Cheshire's 3-11, Connor Brown's 3-19 and James Lewis' 2-35 guided Cardiff home to a 153 run win.

The second team had a better afternoon at home to Cardiff at the Athletic Ground.

The bears won the toss and decided to bat first and were bowled out for 193 in the final over of their innings.

Sam Docherty top scored with 43 runs as Penarth set a competitive total.

Cardiff were bowled out for 106 in the 35th over with Will Skone's 3-32, 2-19 from Tom Pascoe and Morgan Humphreys 2-40 securing an 87 run win.

The third team, also playing at home, took on Upper Rhondda who won the toss and fielded first.

Penarth got 204-7 from their allocated 40 overs with James Docherty's 44 and Steffan Crimp's 41 the main contributions.

In response, Upper Rhondda reached their target in the 39th over for the loss of eight wickets.

Despite 3-47 from James Docherty, James Humpage's 2-36 and 1-25 from Andy Graveson, Penarth were beaten by two wickets.

The fourth team also lost as they took on Cynon Valley in Aberdare.

The bears won the toss and chose to bat first, reaching 176-7 from their 40 overs.

Cynon Valley reached their target in 30 overs, winning by four wickets.

Next week the midweek team host Dinas Powys on Wednesday before the firsts travel away to play Ammanford.

The second XI take on St Fagans at the Athletic Ground and the third XI travel to play Blaina.

The fourth XI welcome Newport Fugitives on Saturday and the thirds are in action again on the Sunday away at Undy and Magor.
