COGAN Coronation AFC have this week announced their new management team to take the club into the coming season.

Sharief Nassoro takes over as manager and Dean Raven joins as first team coach.

The two bring with them extensive playing experience, including at Welsh League outfit Newport City.

Having started their journey through the coaching badges, the pair now take over at Cogan to try and build on the club’s promotion to the South Wales Alliance Division One two seasons ago.

The appointment comes just weeks after the club voted on a new committee, with Paul Starling elected as club secretary and Lee Williams as chairman.

Pre season training for the senior teams begins on Tuesday, July 4 at 6.30pm at Cogan Rec and the club is looking to welcome new players who want to join.

Club secretary Paul Starling said: "It is great to welcome Sharief and Dean to the club. We had a difficult season last season, but now we are looking to go to the next level.

"I’d also like to pay respect to John Page, our outgoing club secretary, who has given the club decades of service. He has left us with strong foundations, and our success going forwards is in large part due to the work he has put in."

Cogan’s new manager Sharief Nassoro said: "It’s a great challenge to take over here at Cogan and along with Dean we have exciting plans to take the club to the next level.

"This is a well-established club which has everything in place to go up the ranks in Welsh football, so we want players who share our ambition to join us this season.

"We’ll be putting a long-term plan into practice, which will include bringing players through the amazing minis, juniors, and youth set up that the club has built up over years. There are quality players here, and with hard work we can achieve our aims."
