WITH the first and third teams games off, finally the Sully Spartans second team was able to take centre stage.

Losing the toss on a damp and green wicket the Spartans who were asked to bat first knew it would take patience and a lot of skill to put up a decent total for the home team to chase in the second innings.

Blesson and Morgan opened the innings and after a quick fire 16 with the score on 20 Blesson was well caught, so entered Bablu with just the same care free attitude which worked wonders.

From the start Bablu hit the ball to all corners of the ground with Morgan flicking the singles and the score reached 120-1 and a 100 partnership in the 22nd over .

Bablu and Morgan were out in quick successive and a collapse followed with three ducks and a one leaving the Spartans on 168-7.

Jijo hit a rapid 20 and supported by Leo( 21) they pushed the Spartans to 217 all out.

Blackwood kept up with the run rate from the start and some poor fielding allowed the home side to believe victory could be theirs.

But Sathish 4-29 and Saeed 2-36 pinned back Blackwood and in the end the home side came up short by nine runs finishing on 208 all out in the 39th over in an exciting and nail biting finish to the well contested game.
