TUESDAY, June 13 was lucky for Glamorganshire's lady captain Jan Carling with a day of sunshine and the wind that had plagued the golfers for days easing off.

The intrepid lady golfers enjoyed a fun Texas Scramble match with canapés and sandwiches at the halfway hut and a glass of Prosecco to wash them down.

Meanwhile the senior social ladies enjoyed an afternoon of bridge with a cream tea.

They all came together in a “Shades of Blue” themed evening for a dinner and the results of the day’s competitions were announced.

The winners of the 18 hole Texas Scramble were Sam Edwards, Ellen Davies and Geraldine Twamley.

The nine hole competition winners were Rose Joseph, Mary Richards and Pam Skone.

The longest drive bronze winner was Geraldine Twamley and Julia Baker won the silver division .

Nearest the pin was won by Pam Pritchard.

Dorothy Foulkes came first in the bridge and in second place was Mrs Margaret Williams.

In other news, Helen Tweddle and Karen Blatchford came through the second round of the Mary Nicholls Cup beating Coed Y Mwstr.

Unfortunately on July 2, their winning streak came to an end in the third round after taking St Mary’s to the 18th hole .

On June 6, the Piddocke Cup and Championship Qualifier, the overall winner on the day was Megan Blunsden.
