SULLY Bowling Club members wish to congratulate Dave Curtis and Brian Griffiths on making it all the way to the final of the Wales over 60s pairs at Llandod last week.

Although losing narrowly in the last three ends, just to make it to the final of a national competition is an achievement very few manage. On the green this week on Wednesday the club entertained Cowbridge in what turned out to be a bit of a one sided affair with all rinks winning D Davies B Harvey B Curtis D Edwards 23-11, K Mahoney E Pryer A Rees H Levick-Jones 20-13, A Kelly P Neale H Thomas C Best 16-14, R Fitzjohn G Neadley A Smith A Thomas 16-15.

On Saturday the crunch game against the league leaders at home was a tale of so near but yet so far. Right from the of Sully got a better grip of the very windy conditions and at ten ends where nine up. At 15 ends it was even better being down on only one rink and leading by 12, then the wheels came off. We had a wrong bias from a skip, and another rink never scored again from the 15th end.

The scene was set for a shoot out with the two top rinks on the green the score was tied and from a position of Sully holding shot on both rinks, enough to win the game.

Both opposition skips with last bowl drew shot for them to win by two so although we were up on two and a draw it was not enough. On Wednesday there is a home friendly and on Saturday away to Romily.
