FOLLOWING a great year at Penarth Lawn Tennis Club that saw us hold a hugely successful Music and Street Food Festival, a Bonfire Night Party and a very well attended social programme, the club are pleased to announce that during January we are launching a new PLTC Running Section that will have its permanent base at our Rectory Road premises.

The Club currently has more than 400 members. Many are not only tennis players, but are also regular runners. Our members can often be seen pounding the streets of Penarth, in preparation for 10k runs, half marathons and full marathons, whilst others just run for fun.

We feel it is the right time to give all runners in Penarth and the surrounding area the chance to have a permanent base at our club house.

We hope that this can provide a great meeting point for the start of a group run as well as a lovely place to socialise in our bar in front of our wood burning stove once the run has finished.

We will organise runs for all abilities and for people who are running for the first time.

We also hope that members of the running section will also become part of our vibrant Friday night social scene. These include music nights, quizzes, wine tasting and food, and may even be tempted to hit a few tennis balls.

We would like to invite anyone who is interested to an open evening at our Clubhouse on Monday, February 12. Come at 7.30pm and join us for a short run and then stay and chat with fellow runners and existing members in our clubhouse from 8pm onwards. We will provide some nibbles and refreshments on the night.

Penarth Lawn Tennis Club is a vibrant, community based club in the heart of Penarth that promotes tennis excellence and provides a friendly, inclusive and enjoyable environment for both playing and social members.

PLTC operates all year round with weekly social tennis, coaching and competitions running throughout the winter.
