WEEK 2 of the summer season saw Windsor Lawn Tennis Club juniors continue their rich vein of form, with some stand-out performances at the Lisvane Open.

Winter recruit Antonia Georgiou was first on court, making excellent strides in the 14&U Girls singles where she lost at the quarter final stage to the number 1 seed as proceedings went to the wire in a final set tie-break shoot-out.

Michael Strong took part in the 14&U boys event, where he was seeded 2 and hoped to make the final stages.

Michael did not disappoint, winning one match in straight sets and then two in nail-biting final sets to secure the title. Matthias Ruggles continued his progress in the 9&U Mini Orange category, winning through his box and finishing as event-runner up.

With the team tennis season also arriving, the 14&U Boys B team were in action against a strong A side at neighbours Rectory Road. Despite some battling tennis from Tom Johnson and Jed Holownia they fell to their higher-rated opponents who were also excellent hosts, and will look forward to more action in the coming weeks.
