LEIGH HALFPENNY: Peach of a kick to set up the opening try for Jamie Roberts but his shocking tackling technique, which has been a problem for years, led to his early departure with a bang to the head. 7

GEORGE NORTH: Was unsettled by a nasty fall to the ground when going for an up and under in the first half but back to his brilliant best in the second half, mixing pace and power to crash over for a hat-trick. 8

JONATHAN DAVIES: Great end to the campaign. Went bursting through midfield to set the scene for the opening try and caused mayhem in the second half with his burst leading to Scott Williams’ length-of-the-field effort. 8

JAMIE ROBERTS: Was Wales’ most potent weapon in the first half, smashing over the gain line. Routine finish for the opening try and his hulking presence enabled Wales to thrive in the wide in the stunning second half. 7

LIAM WILLIAMS: Brilliant display by the Scarlets man, who shifted from wing to full-back. Caused Italy all manner of problems and racked up the yards, making three clean breaks and deservedly getting on the scoresheet. 9

DAN BIGGAR: Pulled the strings marvellously, getting Wales moving in the second half while his form from the tee maximised the running efforts. 8

RHYS WEBB: A majestic second-half performance by the scrum-half, who looked like he had cracked open a fair few cans of Red Bull in the changing room. Sniping runs, energy and excellent support play. Quick tap assist. 9

ROB EVANS: Had a horrible time at the scrum in the first half and was close to being yellow-carded while he was also turned over after carrying too high. Settled down in the second half and played his part in the tight game improving. 6

SCOTT BALDWIN: Another solid performance by the Ospreys front rower with the lineout working well. Had his moments in the loose after recovering from a twisted ankle. 7

AARON JARVIS: Like Evans, didn’t have a good time of things before the break but helped wear down the Azzurri in the second half to enable those with more speed to thrive. 6

LUKE CHARTERIS: Still topped the tackle charts – but this time with just 9 compared to his 30-odd against Ireland. Gifted a pair of soft penalties away early on but was an influential figure until being replaced by Jake Ball. 7

ALUN WYN JONES: Named as the official man of the match and has had a terrific tournament. Always in the thick of it and came up with a crucial lineout steal to allow George North to cross down the left. 8

DAN LYDIATE: Excellent in defence when Italy had their tails up in the first half and showed nice touches in the second half before coming off to allow Justin Tipuric to inject some pace. 7

SAM WARBURTON (STAR MAN): Had another sensational game. Was superb in the frustrating first half, carrying hard and being a menace. Enjoyed stretching his legs after the break and his try was a cracker.Captained the side superbly. 9

TAULUPE FALETAU: As influential as ever. Some notable carries in the opening exchanges when Wales were struggling. Recipient of a monster hit by Castrogiovanni but brushed it off to complete another Six Nations in which he has played every minute. 7
