WALES will take on Sweden in Stockholm in their final friendly before setting off for Euro 2016 in France this summer.

Chris Coleman’s side will play Zlatan Ibrahimovic and teammates at the Friends Arena, Stockholm, on June 5 – just six days before their tournament opener against Slovakia.

Erik Hamrén’s Sweden finished third in European qualifying group G behind leaders Austria and Wales’ Euro 2016 opponents Russia.

The Swedes went on to qualify via the play-offs, beating neighbours Denmark 4-3 on aggregate.

Sweden are currently ranked 35th in the FIFA World Rankings, 18 places behind Wales who are 17th.

Wales boss Coleman said: “This will be our final warm up game ahead of the Euros. It will be just a few days ahead of our opening match against Slovakia in Bordeaux.

“Sweden are a side full of quality and experience who over the years have been regular qualifiers for major tournaments. They will be the ideal opponents in a magnificent stadium.”

Wales will travel straight from Stockholm to their Euro 2016 team base in Dinard, France, where preparations for the tournament will continue.

Wales’ final home match ahead of the tournament will be against Northern Ireland at the Cardiff City Stadium on Thursday, March 24.

They could be up against former Newport County AFC striker Conor Washington in that match.

The one-time Exiles favourite, who has just moved from Peterborough United to Queens Park Rangers, is being lined up for his Northern Irish debut before Euro 2016.

Tickets for this final send-off are currently on sale to gold and junior members of the 1876 Wales supporters club and will be on general sale from Monday.

Coleman’s travel to Ukraine for a friendly on Monday, March 28, before their Swedish trip.

In France, the national side take on Slovakia in Bordeaux on June 11, England in Lens on June 16 and Russia in Toulouse on June 20 in Group B.

The only fixtures played between Wales and Slovakia came in qualifying for Euro 2008 and produced two unlikely scorelines.

Gareth Bale scored his first goal for Wales in the first meeting, in Cardiff, but Slovakia won 5-1.

The return fixture brought revenge for John Toshack's Wales as they claimed a 5-2 win in Trnava, Craig Bellamy scoring twice.

England and Wales have met on 101 occasions, England winning 66 matches and Wales 14.

Against Russia, Wales will be looking for revenge for defeat in the Euro 2004 qualifying play-offs.
