GARETH Bale says Wales showed what a true team they are with a stunning comeback against Belgium to book a Euro 2016 semi-final spot.

Wales fought back from a goal down to beat the Belgians 3-1 in Lille thanks to goals from Ashley Williams, Hal Robson-Kanu and substitute Sam Vokes.

And victory over the team ranked second in the world means Chris Coleman’s men will face Portugal in the last four in Lyon this Wednesday night.

“It's just incredible,” said Bale, who scored the winner when the sides met in qualifying in Cardiff last summer.

“We knew we had it in us, we obviously had a game plan. We felt we knew Belgium well from previous games and we executed the plan amazingly.

“We covered every blade of glass and definitely deserved the win.

“We've grown in confidence, we've been learning from maybe mistakes we've made before.

“I thought we dominated the first half, we kept the ball very well and we felt very comfortable.

“We know they're a very good side with a lot of talented individuals but we showed what a true team we are.”

Asked if he believed Wales could go all the way in France, the Real Madrid star said: “It's in our hands now but we can't afford to look past the semi-final.

“We just have to keep doing what we've been doing and we'll stick to that.”

And Bale dismissed suggestions that the semi-final would be all about him against Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

“It's Portugal versus Wales, nothing more,” said the 26-year-old, who again paid tribute to the Welsh fans in the Stade Pierre Mauroy and back home.

“The fans here and the fans back at home have been incredible.

“We love our fans we try to integrate with them all the time.

“It's going to be an amazing day [for the semi-final]. “We've already made history and hopefully we can make more.

“We're just enjoying being here, we're enjoying the ride. It's our time and we look forward to the semi-final.”

Bale and teammates have now created history by eclipsing the achievements of the 1958 World Cup team, who exited at the quarter-finals.

“We're very proud at what the '58 team did,” added Bale. “They had some amazing players. But we've always spoken that this is our time to shine. We've definitely done that.”
