WIGAN prop Ben Flower is one of four experienced Super League players recalled to the international fold for Wales' bid to reach the 2017 World Cup.

The 28-year-old from Abertridwr, who is facing the threat of suspension after being sent off in Wigan's 35-28 win at Warrington last Friday, missed Wales' victorious European Cup campaign in 2015 because of injury.

Abergavenny’s Gil Dudson and his fellow former Newport Titan Lloyd White, who both play for Widnes, are also back in the frame along with Warrington centre Rhys Evans for Wales' European qualifiers against Serbia and Italy in October.

White, who was in line to captain Wales last year, said: "I've had injuries over the last couple of years so I'm looking forward to getting back involved.

"We can't be aiming for anything other than two wins in the qualifiers. We need to build on the work that some of the younger lads have done over the last two years.

"I was quite disappointed with how I performed personally and with the team as a whole at the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, so we'll be looking to right a few wrongs."

Coach John Kear's initial 29-man train-on squad contains 10 Super League players, nine from the Championship, seven from League 1 and two who play overseas.

Captain Craig Kopczak said: "With coach John Kear coming in, he's steadied the ship and we've gone from strength to strength.

"He's helped a lot, especially with the young guys who have been fantastic. It will be good to get back into camp so that we can re-establish our camaraderie. Everyone really looks forward to it, this is a great time to be involved with Wales."
