AN IMMERSIVE theatrical production on domestic abuse will be shown in Newport tomorrow.
35 Times, produced by Mercury Theatre Wales and written by Bethan Morgan, was first performed last year, but is returning after receiving additional funding.
It is hoped that by showing the production throughout Wales it can raise awareness on domestic abuse, which which affects 1 in 3 women in their lifetimes.
The piece itself will be based around a coffee morning, with an audience of up to 70 people sitting with performers who will tell stories and experiences, through acting, singing and movement.
The performance will have added realism, as it is based on true stories, following months of research by Mercury Theatre Wales, talking to survivors of abuse and charity, Women's Aid.
The production has previously earned praise, and was nominated for a Wales Theatre Award last year.
Cardiff AM, Julie Morgan, has seen the production, and said: "It was a truly inspirational piece of art and highlighted the awful issues surrounding domestic abuse that affect so many people each year, through a very personal and powerful medium."
35 Times is supported by RCT Theatres and funded by the Arts Council of Wales
