This week BBC’s Britain’s Spending Secrets explored the link between money and happiness. We met a billionaire who didn’t have anyone to share his life with, a woman who couldn’t stop buying cheap fashion, and a family who sneered at people unable to buy designer brands.
Some spending habits shocked us completely, other people’s attitudes made us feel a bit sick, but then presenter Anne Robinson rocked up to a food back to find people “who have zero to spend” in a chauffeur driven Mercedes with blacked out windows.
It certainly wasn’t lost on the viewers.
Maybe take the bus next time.
