Stars attending the Brit Awards will be given white rose pins to show support for the Time’s Up movement against harassment and gender inequality.

The organisers of next week’s show have written to record labels to say the pins will be given to guests, presenters and performers.

In a letter seen by the Press Association, organisers said the pin would be offered “as a symbol of solidarity, which we invite them to wear, if they so choose”.

The move comes after stars wore white roses at the Grammys earlier this month to acknowledge the entertainment industry’s fight against harassment.

That gesture was organised by Voices In Entertainment (VIE).

Co-founder Meg Harkins said she was thrilled the Brits “have taken the proactive decision to support Voices In Entertainment and Time’s Up”.

“This is not only an important conversation in the US, but all over the world – and the Brits will help focus attention on these ongoing issues,” Harkins said.

The initiative was also acknowledged at the Golden Globe, where stars wore black to show their support.

At this year’s Brits, breakthrough pop star Dua Lipa leads the nominations, with five nods including best British female solo artist.

Ed Sheeran’s barnstorming third album, Divide, sees him nominated for four gongs.
