LLOYDS Bank colleagues will be raising money in the fight against dementia with a Festive Tea and Talk event.

Colleagues from the Lloyds Bank, Penarth will be holding the event on Tuesday, December 2 to raise money for the charities, Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland.

In return of a small donation, customers are invited to join colleagues for a tea party including cakes, juice, tea and coffee and Santa will also make an appearance between 2.30pm and 4.30pm to meet local children and to give out a chocolate coin.

There will also be a festive lucky dip and a visit from the Mayor of Penarth.

People are invited to talk about dementia, share their experiences and raise awareness of the condition that will affect 850,000 people by 2015.

Christmas cards designed by children last year during a competition will be on sale for a donation of £2.

Sandra Wood at Penarth Branch said: "Festive Tea and Talk gives us an extra special reason to welcome our customers through the door on Tuesday, December 2. Almost half of people in the UK know someone, or have known someone living with the dementia and it affects many of our colleagues and customers. We're proud to be raising awareness of dementia as well as vital funds for Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimer Scotland."

This is the second year of the event with last year’s events across UK branches raising over £175,000 to help people with dementia.

Money raised will go towards the charities ‘Live Well’ programme and the Dementia Research Leaders Programme.
