PENARTH Operatic and Dramatic Society are busy preparing for their latest production, Rehearsal for Murder.

PODS will perform the show at the Paget Rooms, Penarth, from Wednesday, March 15 to Saturday, March 18.

When his leading lady, and fiancée, Monica Welles (Amanda Matthews ) is found dead from an apparent suicide after the opening night of her stage debut, playwright Alex Dennison (Graham Perkins) is left heartbroken.

On the first anniversary of her death, he gathers the cast and crew from that ill-fated night in the same theatre, to read a new play he is working on, a mystery in which a famous actress is killed.

As the reading progresses, the scenes seem to the cast to be uncomfortably close to actual encounters they might have had with Monica. When pressed, Alex finally reveals that he believes that Monica was murdered, and that someone at the theatre is her killer.

Rehearsal for Murder was produced by the writers of Murder She Wrote Richard Levinson and William Link.

Tickets for the show start from £9 and are available by ringing 029 2071 2260, or visit pods-penarth.org or buy them in person from Tenovus, Windsor Road, Penarth.

All shows start at 7.30pm.
