UK BAND Flying Machines will take their debut album on tour with a show at the Old Market Tavern, Cardiff on February 22.

Flying Machines take their influences from jazz, pop, progressive rock and metal to create their sound.

Flying Machines play emotive and dramatic music, drawing upon influences as diverse as jazz, pop, progressive rock and metal to create an utterly unique and modern sound. Formed by guitarist Alex Munk in 2014, Flying Machines feature young musicians that have impacted the UK jazz scene.

Munk explains the sound of Flying Machines: “I’m drawn to music that combines improvisation with a visceral, head thrashing energy: big, chunky riffs, choppy grooves and the guttural roar of a guitar going at full tilt.

"It’s why artists such as Wayne Krantz and Troyka have always resonated with me.

"I also love the melodically driven and through-composed music of Tigran Hamsayan, and the lyricism of players such as Pat Metheny and Mike Walker.

"This album draws upon all these varying influences, resulting in plenty of 'fists in the air' moments and romantic, sweeping melodies, bringing forth an epic quality that ties it all together.”

After a year of touring, the band has now released their debut album which they will perform in venues across the UK.

Flying Machines are Matt Robinson on piano/keyboards, Conor Chaplin on electric bass and Dave Hamblett on drums.
