THE Town Mayor (Councillor Neil Thomas) and Mayoress (Sheena Thomas) held a very successful and entertaining charity quiz night at the Paget Rooms on Tuesday, April 1.
The Paget Rooms was packed with teams representing local groups, organisations, charities and town and Vale councillors who came to join in the fun.
The quiz master for the night was Alun Jenkins, the questions he set were not for the fainthearted and he did a grand job keeping everyone entertained and in order. The Town Mayor’s secretary, Andrea Holloway was scorekeeper with the bookings officer - Paulene Evans on bar duty and John Millard and Shan Bowden at front of house and selling raffle tickets helped to achieve a very successful night. A special thanks is also due to Christian Richards (duty officer).
The night was in aid of the Town Mayor’s nominated charities, for his year in office, which are; The British Heart Foundation and Penarth Youth Project.
A large number of prizes were raffled, donated by local businesses, unfortunately too many to mention.
The winners of the quiz were the Witches of Penarth with a score of 91 and whose collective knowledge edged them ahead of the competition by three points and they gratefully received a case of wine for their efforts and a cup.
The Town Mayor wishes to thank everyone who supported the event which raised in excess of £245.
