STEPHEN Doughty has been promoted in a Labour cabinet reshuffle.
The MP for Cardiff South and Penarth will become a shadow minister with the Business, Innovation and Skills department.
Labour's acting leader, Harriet Harman, announced the shadow ministerial changes on Monday, June 22.
Mr Doughty has previously worked as PPS to the Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, and as an Opposition Whip.
He was re-elected as member of parliament for the constituency at the general election last month.
He said: "“It is a real honour to have been asked to serve as a Shadow Minister, leading on trade and industry.
I look forward to continuing to work closely with Chuka Umunna and Labour’s business team, just as I have as an Opposition Whip, helping to provide effective scrutiny of the government, and to build relationships with key stakeholders in business and industry.
I worked for many years on international trade and investment issues with NGOs and in government, and have worked hard to build relationships with key businesses locally since I was elected.
I hope to put this experience to good use as part of the shadow BIS team.”
