A TEENAGER from Penarth has received a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from being in public in a group of more than four people.

Sixteen-year-old Noah King was given the order at Cardiff Magistrates Court on Tuesday, December 22 after his continued antisocial behaviour persistently caused harassment, alarm and distress to the community.

The Criminal Behaviour order prohibits King from causing a nuisance or act in an intimidating or annoying manner to any person within the Vale of Glamorgan whether in person or via electronic means, from being in a public place within the Vale of Glamorgan in a group of more than four person unless accompanied by a parent or guardian, from entering a public place whilst having consumed alcohol or while under the influence of any illegal substances, and from being in possession of alcohol in a public place in the Vale of Glamorgan that is not a public house or restaurant.

Inspector Naomi Drew of the Safer Vale Partnership said: “This positive action in securing the two-year CBO demonstrates the Safer Partnership is proactively tackling antisocial behaviour within our communities and is getting tough on those who display this type of behaviour.”

Deborah Gibbs of the Safer Partnership said: “If King breaches this order he will be arrested and placed before the courts. We urge the public and local residents to contact the police if they see him in breach of any of the conditions of his CBO. The community’s help in letting us know when or if these orders are broken is vital to their success.”

A Criminal Behaviour Order is an order which is available on conviction for any criminal offence by any criminal court, introduced by the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 with effect from October 2014.
