A FLOWER festival will be held to celebrate a Penarth church's 150th anniversary next month.
St Augustine’s Church, Penarth's only grade one listed building, will host the event over the weekend of Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12.
The present St Augustine’s was completed in 1866 and replaced a small medieval church which could no longer accommodate the growing population of Penarth.
There will also be a special arrangement in The Queen's honour as she celebrates her official 90th birthday.
Mary Cole, who is organising this event, is "delighted" with the number of people who have already booked spaces for displays.
The event will run from 11am-5pm on the Saturday and from noon-5pm on the Sunday.
Entry will be £2 which will include refreshments. Children are welcome and at no charge.
There will also be an exhibition about the history of St Augustine’s.
A spokeswoman for the Friends of St Augustine's said: "Designed by the Victorian architect William Butterfield, St Augustine’s is a wonderful example of the Gothic Revival style at its best.
"Filled with flowers it is even more impressive as 'Flowers fit for a Queen' will prove."
