PENARTH Acoustic Club has donated £500 worth of percussion instruments to Community Music Wales, Wales’ leading music charity.

Delivering workshops, mentoring schemes and community music training across Wales, the charity’s aim is to contribute to the empowerment of disadvantaged groups and individuals through participation in creativity and learning, primarily through making music.

Hannah Jenkins, director of community Music Wales said: "We work with a wide range of people bringing music to youngsters, people with disabilities and the elderly.

"The donation of these instruments, means we can now deliver workshops that we previously weren’t able to do.

"Our workshops support creativity and help people to build confidence in a creative and fun environment giving them the opportunity to write, play, record or perform their own music.

We are so grateful to Penarth Acoustic Club and their supporters for this donation."

The acoustic club, which holds monthly live music evenings in Penarth, used proceeds from the club’s raffles to purchase the instruments. Since starting out just under three years ago, the club has donated over £2000 worth of musical instruments and accessories to Community Music Wales and also Mind Cymru.

The support of the audience members who buy the raffle tickets every month, and the support of Griffin Books and Pencerdd Music makes such gifts possible.

The next Penarth Acoustic Club will be held on Friday, October 20 and will feature Australian blues musician Chris O, poet Susie Wild, and Canadian singer songwriter Sarah Jane Scouten along with her

four-piece band.
