A PLAN for a Dominos Pizza store in Penarth has been given the green light.
The Vale council planning department has given permission for the nationwide Pizza chain to open a store on Stanwell Road.
Dominos was previously given permission to open a store at the former Blockbusters store on the corner of Windsor Road and Hickman Road in 2014 and the former Tropical Tandoori premises on Windsor Terrace but neither of these came to fruition.
The Stanwell Road site used to be home to Cloggs and then My Shoe Box.
There was opposition from town councillors and residents at the time to the plans for the former Blockbusters site with concerns over parking, littering and the affect on surrounding businesses.
Town councillors also expressed their concerns about the former Tropical Tandoori site in terms of potential parking issues.
This application proposes the erection of a new illuminated fascia and projecting sign on the building.
