RESIDENTS from across Penarth and the Vale of Glamorgan turned out in large numbers this week at the town mayor charity coffee morning.

The event – held in the mayor's parlour in West House – supported Cllr Ken Lloyd’s two chosen charities – Cancer Research UK and RNIB.

Among those in attendance were South Wales Central AM Andrew RT Davies – who praised Cllr Lloyd for his hard work showcasing the town and raising money for two excellent causes.

Mr Davies said: "I have known Ken for a number of years – and was absolutely thrilled when he became mayor of Penarth."

"I always knew he would make an excellent ambassador for the town – and yesterday’s coffee morning is just one example of the fantastic job he is doing.

"It was really pleasing to see so many people from Penarth and across the Vale pop along to show their support – and raise money for two causes that I know are close to Ken’s heart."
