THE owner of Barry Island funfair has admitted failing to comply with building regulations.
Henry Danter, 73, pleaded guilty at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on Monday (November 20) to the charge which related to the structure of the dodgems building.
There were also problems with the electrics and an access ramp identified.
The court heard how Danter put "profit over public safety" after the council contacted him on April 4 requesting a structural calculation which Danter failed to carry out.
Richard Price prosecuting on behalf of the Vale council said Danter "accepted that work needed doing but delayed it to carry it out out of season to avoid losing profit."
He told the court that the building was "not structurally sound" and inspections from the Vale council found that the concrete block foundations were unsuitable and the the work has still yet to be completed.
Two notices were served in May and June.
District judge Bodfan Jenkins said he needed to consider culpability and harm and Danter's financial position including any economic benefit.
Sentencing was adjourned until January 10 and Danter granted unconditional bail.
