THIS photograph of Penarth of yesteryear dates back to sometime around the early to mid 1960s, and features graduates of the General Post Office (GPO) training school in Penarth.
The school was a training centre for telephone engineers and was based just off Victoria Road.
This image is taken from the students' 'passing out' day more than 50 years ago, and was taken on the field which is now part of Stanwell School.
In the days when Lavernock Road had a hairpin bend by the Cefn Mabley pub, there used to be a row of huts, which can be seen prominently in the background of the photograph.
This picture was kindly donated by Jon Brennan, of the 'Images of Bygone Penarth' Facebook page. Mr Brennan's father, Joe Brennan, can be seen on the far right of the photograph as the last man standing at the back.
