A TREE that collapsed in Penarth Cemetery during Storm Emma has caused damage to 11 graves, Penarth Town Council has confirmed.
The pine, believed to have been around 90-foot tall, was brought down as snow and strong winds battered the town last Thursday night.
Maintenance workers have now finished cutting up the tree and it is currently awaiting removal.
Although the full extent of the damage has not been released, a number of headstones can be seen to have been cracked or moved as a result of the collapse.
Due to family sensitivities, the identities of those laid to rest in the affected plots have not been made public.
