CHILDREN at Albert Primary School have been marking their Eisteddfod by dressing in traditional costumes to celebrate their Welsh heritage.

Since half term, the school have been challenging children to describe why they are proud to be Welsh, using the social media hashtags '#proudtobewelsh' and '#balchofodyngymraeg'.

As is the tradition during an Eisteddfod, children also performed the 'chairing of the bard' ceremony, where the successful year 6 poet was given the honour of sitting in the school Eisteddfod chair. The ceremony was presided over by the chief druids.

The children were given a host of fun and creative activities to engage in throughout the day, centred about the theme of celebrating St David and Welsh identity.
