FOLK singer-songwriter Chris Ronald is among the names set to grace Penarth Conservative Club later this month, at the next event being hosted by the Penarth Acoustic Club.

Now living in Vancouver, Canada, The Chris Ronald Trio will be stopping in Penarth on Friday, April 20, as part of a 14-date tour in Ronald's native UK.

Ronald is being joined by bandmates John Ellis (dobro, banjo, mandolin, guitar) and Mike Sanyshyn (fiddle, percussion) for the gig.

His music has been described as “Canadian folk with British roots,” with The Province likening it to “the country and folk that came out of Laurel Canyon and the British Isles in the mid-seventies.”

Having recently released his fourth album, he was also recently nominated for Songwriter of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Spoken word artist Mark Blayney, from Cardiff, will also be performing his mix of comedy, fiction and poetry work.

Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets are available from Pencerdd Music or Griffin Books, or online via the club’s website at penarthacoustic.club, where full details of all upcoming events can be found.
