THIS week’s From the Archive features Penarth Esplanade in 1927, the year Cardiff City won the FA cup at Wembley and the year that saw major work being carried out on the seafront.
The esplanade walkway was widened, protective railings were fitted and steps were added to gain access to the beach.
This photograph shows the original pier entrance, the Esplanade Hotel to the left and the newly constructed Beach Road climbing away in the distance past The Kymin House.
Many thanks to Philip Dawson and Andrew Coslett from the Images of Bygone Penarth Facebook page for providing us with this image.
