THIS week’s From the Archive section looks at a photograph of a Steam Locomotive 4177 arriving at Cogan Station 1963, photographed by the late John Wiltshire.
In the distance above the train can be seen houses on Redlands Road and a little to the left of them above the woodland the upper end of Shakespeare Avenue is visible with the allotments below them. This locomotive was built in 1929 and served the Great Western Railway until its disposal in 1965. Many thanks to Ian Clarke and Andrew Coslett of the Bygone Penarth facebook page for supplying this photo.
We would love to see any old photographs of Penarth, Sully and Dinas Powys.
