THE Dragons have suffered a front row blow for tomorrow’s trip to the Scarlets with the loss of loosehead Ryan Bevington through concussion.

The 30-year-old former Wales prop, who signed from Bristol last summer, suffered a blow to the head in Sunday’s Guinness PRO14 win against the Ospreys at Rodney Parade.

Bevington was hitting rich form after stepping up because of the loss of Brok Harris (knee) but now he joins the South African, Wales tighthead Leon Brown (thumb) and Lloyd Fairbrother (suspension) on the sidelines.

Aaron Jarvis moves from tighthead to loosehead with Dan Suter coming into the front row for his first start since facing the Scarlets at Principality Stadium at the end of last season.

The 25-year-old former Osprey had a torrid time at the scrum against Wales prop Rob Evans at Judgement Day and will hope to fare better against the same opponent in Llanelli.

Caretaker coach Ceri Jones makes five other changes to the side that ended their four-year derby drought last week with a number of Dragons suffering from bumps and bruises.

Richard Hibbard swaps places with Elliot Dee to start at hooker, Tavis Knoyle gets the nod at scrum-half, Jack Dixon and Wales centre Tyler Morgan are paired in midfield and Jordan Williams faces his former side from full-back.

Adam Warren moves from 13 to wing in place of try scorer Jared Rosser, who hasn’t trained this week because of injury, while inside centre Jarryd Sage is rested after being a bruising fortnight.

Promising tighthead Chris Coleman is among the replacements and Joe Davies covers the second row in place of Lewis Evans, who suffered an ankle injury against the Ospreys.

South Wales Argus:

The Scarlets are down to the bare bones in the back row so field Wales and Lions hooker Ken Owens at number eight.

Wayne Pivac brings in Ryan Elias at the heart of an all-international front row while Hadleigh Parkes returns to midfield to partner Jonathan Davies with Dan Jones pulling the strings from fly-half.

There is no place in the matchday squad for Wales scrum-half Gareth Davies or wing Steff Evans.

The Dragons have not won away from home in the PRO14 for 38 games, a miserable streak back to their success in Treviso in March, 2015.

They have triumphed just once in Llanelli when they won 30-23 at Stradey Park in September, 2007.
