THE newly elected members of the Welsh Youth Parliament for Cardiff have held their first meeting in the National Assembly for Wales.

Rhian Shillabeer (Cardiff South and Penarth), Manon Clarke (Cardiff West), Betsan Roberts (Cardiff North) and Gwion Rhisiart (Cardiff West) were elected in the first youth parliament elections in December.

Angel Ezeadum and Greta Evans were the partner elected members by Race Council Cymru and the Urdd.

For their first meeting since being elected – the members of the Youth Parliament (MYPs) were welcomed to the Senedd by South Wales Central AM Andrew RT Davies – who wished them luck in their new roles.

The MYPs then took the opportunity to grill the AM on their key campaign pledges – which included the environment and mental health provision in schools.

Mr Davies said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Betsan, Gwion, Rhian, Manon, Angel and Greta to the Assembly – and congratulate them on their election.

“They are all incredibly enthusiastic – and I have no doubts they will work hard and do a fantastic job for young people across Cardiff and Penarth.

“It was great to have the opportunity to talk about mental health provision and their other key campaign pledges – and I look forward to working with them all in their new roles.”
