CARDIFF BUS has announced increases to ticket costs.

For passengers travelling to the city, revised fares will mean an adult single ticket will increase from £1.90 to £2 in Cardiff.

And an adult Day to Go ticket, which provides unlimited travel throughout Cardiff, Penarth, Llandough and Dinas Powys, bought through the company’s mobile app or website will be £3.80 or £4 if bought on the bus at the time of travel.

Customers using the company’s mobile app can bulk buy single trips for use in the city for the equivalent of £1.60 a journey.

For younger travellers, the youth single remains unchanged at £1.30, while a youth Day to Go ticket will rise from £2.50 to £2.60.

This is the first time the company has increased prices in 16 months.

Cardiff Bus managing director Cynthia Ogbonna said: “We are hugely proud of the fact that a Cardiff Bus ticket is a passport to all parts of Cardiff and beyond, not just a few select routes.

“We have been getting people around this city for over 100 years. Our fares compare favourably to all other providers of comprehensive bus services.

"There are many ways to pay for your Cardiff Bus ticket, you can pay on the bus in cash or by contactless or you can use the Cardiff Bus app and pay for your tickets on your phone.

“Cardiff Bus is continuing to be the most viable alternative to commuting by car for most residents and these changes are about ensuring that we offer the most comprehensive network as possible. Residents need a bus company that covers the whole city and we are that company.”

The price change will come into effect in February.
