NEWPORT County AFC manager Michael Flynn is chasing a goalkeeper on an emergency loan before tomorrow’s crucial League Two clash at Cambridge United.
Number one Joe Day is fit to play but back-up Nick Townsend is still struggling with a bicep injury.
Townsend has missed the last three games, leaving County without cover on the bench if Day is sent off or injured.
And Flynn is trying to bring in a keeper ahead of tomorrow’s match at the Abbey Stadium.
A deal will have to be signed and sealed by midday today for the player to feature in the squad at Cambridge.
Townsend, who signed a two-year deal last summer, has made 10 appearances in his debut season with the Exiles.
His most high-profile game came at Middlesbrough in the FA Cup fourth round in January and his last appearance was at Grimsby Town on February 2.
Scot Bennett is fit to return tomorrow and Jamille Matt, who was forced off with a dead leg during the 0-0 draw with Swindon Town, should also be available.
Joss Labadie, who received stitches to a gash sustained on Tuesday, is doubtful. But Flynn says the midfielder might be fit.
