CARDIFF Bus has unveiled its summer service plans, launching later this month.

From June 22 until September 15, the bus operator will run an hourly service from Penarth Pier to the city centre on weekends and public holidays.

The 91 service will run from Penarth Pier heading to Penarth town centre, Mermaid Quay and Wales Millennium Centre before reaching St Mary Street.

Those wishing to take a day trip from Penarth to the city centre can take advantage of Cardiff Bus’s day and family travel tickets which offer affordable travel throughout Penarth and the capital.

Adults with the Cardiff Bus app can travel all day for £3.80, while young persons pay £2.50. Families can also purchase a family day ticket for £5.50 on the app or from the driver, for either two adults and three children, or one adult and four children.

Gareth Stevens, acting operations and commercial director at Cardiff Bus, said: “We know that over the summer months, people like to get out and about locally so we put on this additional service to accommodate their needs.

“There’s a jam-packed schedule of exciting events taking place across the city and Penarth’s attractions and Pier mean it’s a popular place to take the family.

“The regular service combined with our day and family tickets make it an affordable and convenient way to travel.

“Whether you are looking to visit the beach or explore the city this summer, Cardiff Bus will get you there.”
