TWO swimmers were picked up by Barry Dock lifeboat crew following a report that four people had been battling sea currents off the coastline.
Members of the public and volunteers in the National Coastwatch Institution's watchtower, in Nell’s Point, Barry Island, spotted four swimmers struggling against an ebbing tide in the Bristol Channel.
The RNLI all weather lifeboat, inner wheel II and inshore lifeboat Frances Corscaden both launched around 6.30pm on Saturday, June 15.
Two swimmers had managed to get themselves back to shore.
Barry Coastguard helped the lifeboat crew locate the two struggling swimmers approximately ¼ of a mile off the headland before returning them to Barry harbour.
All four were uninjured and no hospital treatment was required.
