A YOUNG boy is in hospital with serious injuries after being involved in a collision with a bus.
The 12-year-old remains in a serious condition following the incident which took place on Sherburn Terrace, Consett, at around 3.40pm on Tuesday.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: "It is believed the child, got off the bus on Sherburn Terrace and proceeded to run alongside the vehicle.
"It is thought the student then fell from the footpath onto the carriageway and collided with the bus."
The boy was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with serious injuries.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or with dashcam footage is asked to call PC Mark Cudden on 101 quoting reference number 288 of July 16.
